First picking up a camera around age 6, it has since been my life’s passion to create beautiful images that tell small stories of the larger world around me.
After earning an MFA in Art and Technology, and living in both Chicago and Atlanta, I have found myself back home in Ohio. I’ve met and married the love of my life Scott, and together we are raising arguably the cutest kids in the world.
If we work together, I want you to look naturally amazing. I like to document things the way they really happen, but I will also tell you if your dress is tucked into your underwear or if some lipstick is on your teeth. I will capture that wind-in-your-hair moment that causes an unexpected outburst of laughter. Most importantly, we will have fun
I want you to be able to see yourself the way your partner does- as a beautiful person deserving the richest love in the world. Photographs act as mirrors, reflecting back on us all of the little things that go unnoticed in the chaos of everyday life. This process can be intimidating, but you are worthy of artwork that echoes your beautiful life.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How long have you been a wedding photographer?
This is my 11th wedding season
- How many weddings have you shot?
Over 250
- How would you describe your photography style?
I have found the best things in life tend to be pretty simple and natural, yet embody hidden complexity. A vibrant sunset, a glass of wine, a genuine smile or an afternoon nap. Trying to add anything to these perfect moments would be to take away from the experience. I approach photography in the same way: less is more.
My images are color-forward and striking black and whites with minimal editing and post-processing. In 30 years your photos will look as timeless and as natural as they do today. My albums are designed with a clean design aesthetic to ensure the photos, and not the design, tell the story of your wedding. - How would you describe your working style?
I don’t operate my company like a factory. I don’t outsource the work because I love the work. Each photo is hand edited by myself with a “less is more” approach. Because I do not operate with a heavy hand in Photoshop, you will not look like an over airbrushed alien. This will help people recognize you in your photos.
- How far in advance do I need to book my wedding photographer?
Typically a year out
- What sets your work apart from that of other photographers?
Technically speaking, the reception is the most difficult part of the day to photograph, as most are held at night in dark rooms. Getting lighting to look balanced and dynamic is a skill and an art form in itself, and Jessica Miller Photography specializes in this artform. Low-profile off-camera lighting that allows for the light to “wrap” the subjects making them appear more three-dimensional. You, your family and all the crazy dance moves will be lit to perfection no matter what setting or time of day.
- Do you ever bring more then one photographer to the event?
If a package with a second photographer is chosen I will have a second professional photographer with me on wedding day.
- Do you have a portfolio I can review? Are all of your images yours and present work?
Yes! my website houses all of my portfolio images. www.thejessicamillerphotos.com and @jmillerphotos on instagram for my most recent work
- What type of equipment do you use?
I bring three professional full-frame Nikon camera bodies, 6 profession NIKKOR lenses, off-camera flash setups and an array of accessories such as umbrellas and flash grids to ensure I had the ability to execute multiple lighting setups.
- Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like?
yes of course
- What type of album designs do you offer? Do you provide any assistance in creating an album?
I offer a full range of mid-grade and high-end show-stopping albums. The design process is led by myself, but the client always gets the final say on the design. It's an easy process that's all done online.
- What is the time frame I will receive my photos after ordering?
6-8 weeks for weddings, 2-3 weeks for portraits, depending on time of year. Winter shoots typically have quicker turnaround times.
- Do you provide a written contract?
Yes always.
